Hello Neighbor is an Indie game developed by Dynamic Pixels and published by tinyBuild. It is available on Steam, GoG and XBox One. This review is for the PC version. The game is a first-person single-player stealth game. I have been playing this game for a while now, and will continue to play it. The game has a lot of potential to be a great game, and the developers are updating the game frequently with new features and content.

Gameplay

You will play as a kid who sneaks into his neighbor's house to investigate his secret. The gameplay is a point and click type. You will have to navigate your character to the basement through the house. As the main character, you will have a flashlight and a baseball bat. You can use them to interact with the objects. The flashlight will be used to lighten up a dark place and the baseball bat will be to knock down your enemy. As your character moves through the house, he will trigger certain events. He will find his neighbor's traps as well.

Graphics

The graphics of this game are very cartoonish, however, things in the neighbor's house tend to have weird shapes and proportions, which only adds to the spooky atmosphere of the game. All of this together makes this game a good "horror" game for kids. There is nothing really scary, but the atmosphere is spooky.

Replayability

While gameplay and graphics are quite good, the replayability is a little bit worse. The game is interesting mostly because of the secret the neighbor hides. Once you find it, the game loses most of its interest. The neighbor is not the only reason to play the game. You can still try out different options to solve different puzzles. You can also try to speedrun the game, which may lead you to discover new options. And you can also try to break the game by trying to do things you are not supposed to do.

Controls

Hello Neighbor controls are pretty easy, since the game was made for kids and teenagers, but there are some things you need to know before starting the game. While you play the game, you can use WASD keys to move, spacebar to interact, E to open inventory and F to throw something. Those is the basic controls. It is pretty simple to use, but you need to know that there are Steam achievements, so you need to collect them all.

Conclusion

Hello Neighbor is a pretty good game, especially for kids and teenagers. It is not a very long game and once you find out the secret of the neighbor, the game loses most of its replayability. However, if you are looking for a game to play with younger kids, this game is perfect for them. It will not only entertain them, but also teach them to solve puzzles.
